The Philippines is an archipelagic nation comprising of over 7000 islands in the western Pacific Ocean stretching from the northern tip of Borneo to south of China. Makati is is bounded on the north by the Pasig River, on the northeast by Pasig City, on the southeast by the municipalities of Pateros and Taguig, on the northwest by the capital City of Manila and on the southwest by Pasay City. In the pre-Spanish era, Makati was ruled by Lakan Tagkan, a native chieftain, and his wife Bouan.
Subic Bay
Subic Bay is located on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. It is 110 km north-west of the capital city of Manila and is situated north-west of the Bataan Peninsula (separating Subic and Manila) and south of the Zambales Province.
The industrial city of Clark is located near Subic Bay. It is connected to the city by the Subic-Clark Expressway. You can access Subic Bay by road or by sea (take a boat from Manila Port to Orion and board a bus for Subic).
Luzon
Luzon, an island group, is one of the largest and most important islands in the Philippines. With the South China Sea to its west, Philippine Sea to its east and Luzon Strait to its north, Luzon is the world’s fifteenth largest island. It has a population of about 39,500,000 inhabitants.
Luzon has a tropical marine climate, characterised by dry summers and rainy winters. Rainfall is mostly concentrated in winters with violent wind activity recorded occasionally.

The traditional dance of the country is derived from a unique mix of Spanish, Malay and Muslim influences. Tinikling (bamboo or heron dance) and pandanggo sa ilaw ('dance of lights') are among some of the most beautiful Malay dances while singkil (court dance) is the most popular Filipino-Muslim dance. The Spanish dances such as habanera, jota and paypay (the fan dance) can be seen performed in the Philippine variations. Many good old folk dances, especially the national dance named tinikling have become a hit with tourists.

Where else in the world can you sample delectable and tempting delicacies if not in the exotic country of Philippines. It is hardly surprising that Filipino food is often labeled as somewhat strange but in its own way, a unique mixture of eastern and western cuisine. After all, with nearly 400 years of outside influences, the Philippine cuisine is a fascinating blend of Malay, Spanish and Chinese cultures. To the Filipinos, food is important as it is an integral part of local art and culture as well as communal existence.
